My name is Christopher Van Poos, I am a dedicated Creative / Art Director & WebMaster with a passion for UI / UX Design. I spent a good portion of my life growing up in an Ad Agency, I started on my own in the print industry 8 years ago and have been developing myself as an Creative Director & Web Developer ever since. I attended one of the top design schools in the nation Full Sail University to take my education the next level. Since, I have developed my skills in Web Development and Creative Direction in addition to my existing experience, as print designer. I understand every process of developing practically all types of sites from concept to completion and I have a
passion for solving problems. I work with the user in mind and backtrack
from there. I strongly believe the users experience is paramont and must
come first, as the famous Architect Louis Sullivan once said in 1869
"Form follows funtion", this I believe still stands true till this
day. I am a problem solver, team builder and I have a passion
for what I do and believe one can master multiple mediums
without sacrificing quality for quantity or time.
Please feel free to learn more about me and contact me at your leisure.
Best Regards....

This project is one of my favorite UI's (User Interfaces) I have developed in a while, the challenge with this project was to be able to develop a user interface that allow the user to disseminate throgh the massive ammount of information and resources United Way Miami-Dade provides to the community and giving them the ability to share resources or stories at every available opportunity. The highly configurable dynamic proprietary CMS (Content Management System) built by Kaboo Kaboo Marketing was catered speficically designed for the scalability needs United Way Miami-Dade required, the user experience and UII (user interface interaction) for this CMS (content management system) was designed and conceived by me, unfortuantely this view is proprietary and is exclusive to United Way Miami-Dade. However I can assure that KabooKaboo Marketing did a stellar job in creating this highly configurable system. This system is now capable of enabeling someone with minimal to no knowledge in web developemnt to update the site within second. In other words if you can update Facebook this would be a breeze to work with.
This was a great project to work on, I built the system from concept to completion. In this project I served as the Art Director, Information Architect and Web Developer of the site. The website utilized best practices SEO techiniques and Javascript sub-navigation to increase interpage clickthrough performance and usability amongst other technologies. From site launch in the begining of Januaray to the end fo February the site recieved roughly 48,000 clickthroughs with roughly 21,000 unique vistors, a 313% increase in traffic from the two months previous. This increase was attributed to quality top notch PR, copy and being placed 1st - 3rd in most common search terms associated with Miami Wine, Miami Foood, Miami Wine and Food etc...
Cosmetic Solutions is a website I built for a company called www.naturalskinsare.com. Since this site was intended to be an extension of Naturalskincare.com, the customer was still in the process of outlining the product line, its description, price point, photography, copy etc... in other words content was non-existent and the client still wanted to get the project under way. At first thought one may this think of this as a benefit as there were no limitations to the project however this makes the project much more challenging because I had to build the framework with the notion that there could be any number ammount of products, description, images etc... Despite the challenge after a few long meeting we hashed out a great system that integrated the Unify's "Simple Content Editor" which enabled the client to make edits to the system as he determine each item and produced content for them. This is the template version I provided for him.
This website was a quick project I produced for a LED lighting company called LED GO-Lighting. the website was built soley for promotional purposes hence everything being on one page. The system scrolls from one section fo the website to the next without the need to reload and also has history and back button enabled so you can go back to the previous view you were seeing.
This is a website I designed for LGD Communications. I was the chief designer and functionality architect for this project. I worked along side a great designer and web developer Steve Bechtoldt. The website was designed with a few basic principles in mind, 1.To be cross browser compatible. 2.To be Modular so that each section could stand on it own or swapped out with newer technology when needed. Lastly the website needed to be able to function and look fine in the without the use of interactive functionality like Flash or Javascript. Glad to say we did a pretty sweet job.
This is another Press Release LGD Communications sent out to their clients boasting about the our latest achievement winning the (South Florida Interactive Marketing Association) Award for "Most Effective Email Marketing Campaign 2009" I'm proud to say that I designed and coded this one. Interestingly enough it was my least favored design of the three, but numbers speak louder than aesthetics, which is fine with me.
Gran Meliá is Luxury Hotel Brand with World Class Hotels & Resorts that have an International Portfolio that is breath taking. They requested to make property specific Email Marketing campaigns one for each flagship hotel. The objective was to maintain the aesthetic of campaign while maintaining best practices so that the emails were cross browser / cross email client compatible.

Me By Meliá is a Sexy Luxury Hotel Brand with Hotels World Wide. They requested to make demographic specific Email Marketing campaigns one for each flagship hotel. Ones that would reflect the aesthetic feel of their current Ad campaign without compromising the effectiveness of the e-blast. We managed to maintain the aesthetic of campaign while coding using best practices so that the email was cross browser / cross email client compatible.

Zaza is a Spa and Salon located in Doral, FL, which was an upstart that approached me in efforts to make a brochure amongst other things. They were heavily invested in equipment and staff and needed to make some immediate and cost effective print collateral to sell their product. We ended up knocking out a Simple logo, Print brochure, flyers and business cards in a little under a week. This was the brochure we ended up with.
MPD (Mental Power Development) approached me with interests in producing a brochure for the opening of their Adult Day Training facility. They really wanted to focus on the importance of their clients and how they understood their needs. So from a graphical standpoint we decided on focusing on very warm and soothing colors yet keeping the graphical elements to a minimum so that the main focus would be on the curriculum they provided within their facility.
Gran Meliá is Luxury Hotel Brand with World Class Hotels & Resorts spanning the globe. This campaign was an great project to work on, I worked on this campaign along side the head Art Director Daniel Borst in producing Print Collateral and Digital Media such and Brochures, Fact Sheets, Email Marketing e-blast and more. This particular example is a fact sheet I produced for the one of their flagship hotels, Gran Meliá’s Fenix in Fenix Spain.
This was a full-page direct mail campaign that was sent to some of the top chefs and restaurant chains in the US. The idea for the campaign was an open call for chefs to visit the three properties as a prospect of possibly opening a restaurant on prime South beach real estate. Two of which ended up becoming occupied.
This is a piece of the launch campaign I did for the opening of the Colony Hotel's Colony Cafe. The Colony Hotel was interested in driving their current hotel guests as well as street traffic to come in and enjoy breakfast lunch or dinner at their new world class restaurant. Given that they wanted to target two different demographics we decided to print in-room note cards and fake money called Colony Dollars to serve as a coupon for the restaurant. Each new customer upon entering there room had a small stack Colony Dollars and a note card advising them where they could use them, we also had the restaurant hostess’s giving away Colony Dollars to pedestrian traffic walking in front of the hotel. Needless to say the campaign was a success!
These are a few print ad's I did for Suites on South Beach, this company offered Weekly, monthly and Daily Apt and Condo Rentals on South Beach and was looking for a way that they could showcase their product to pedestrian traffic and to give to customers that walk into the office. We ended up making 16 ads total, all of which were suspended with clear picture frames ceiling to floor in front of the street window. This allowed people to walk by and read about the different properties available or go inside and pickup a pamphlet.
This was half page flyer / direct mail campaign for Pets on South Beach. Pets on South Beach were fairly new to the market and were looking to make a big impression with as little money possible. We decided the most cost effective way was to make half page flyers in which they had the option to send out as a direct mail to their clients or give out by hand. We also took this a step further and hired a street team to pass out the flyers by hand in South Beach's always occupied streets.
This piece is a brochure I did for the Kent Hotel South Beach. The Hotel is a very whimsical hotel located in the heart of South beach. They approached me in efforts to make a property brochure that matched the style of their hotel, they were also looking to have the brochure double as a sales tool that served as a presentation for there potential investors. We decided on designing a brochure, a Flash CD presentation as well as a Video shoot for all the rooms. The deliverables was a Brochure that stood alone and a presentation CD that could be encased in the brochure if needed.
This was another school project; the assignment was to do a design in a style we are not well versed in or familiar with. The other caveat to it was to create it completely in vector format so it could be blown up to whatever size. I ended up designing large format print that specifies the beach apparel section of the store.
This was a school project to make a full-size poster of an upcoming concert. The limitations were that we could not use any photos, icons, or other imagery unless we made ourselves or it came from a font. I chose to go with Aesop Rocks. I used corduroy hat for the background pattern and I sketched the Angels, Scrolls and Crown by hand.
Auto Boutique approached me in efforts to develop a new Brand Identity. They were looking to appeal more to their luxury demographic and wanted to redevelop and new crisp aesthetic while maintaining there branded company colors, this is what we ended up with.
About a year into working with Colony Hotel, they became interested in redoing their brand identity for their corporate division, the objective was to create more of an established elegant look to represent the Hotel's long 50 year history as the most sought after Hotel in South Beach, FL.
Good Friends Medical was an upstart Physical Therapy Clinic looking make a presence in their field. There only request was to make something that gives the idea of motion but still holds the traditional styling of a medical clinic.
This was a lot of fun to work on, this piece was for a great artist and friend of mine that’s was looking to create a logo for her website and business cards, as well as a Thank You card and envelope to accompany all her original artist reproductions as a Proof of Original and a Thank You note.
Absolute Care Service is a great company that offers, Mental Health Therapy to people with disabilities. When they asked me to help them out with their identity I was quick to jump at opportunity. Since they serve as an institution as well as a therapeutic service I decided to go with a Text Book Institutional look and feel.
